Recently, Murdock Trust CEO Romanita Hairston joined five other foundation leaders from the Portland area for a conversation hosted by the Portland Business Journal. Each of these leaders are new to their roles within the last 18 months, offering a fresh perspective on philanthropy and their organizations.
Together, these leaders considered what the nonprofit world looks like coming out of the pandemic, challenges and opportunities facing the philanthropic sector, and goals for the coming year. It was a fruitful and encouraging conversation about the ways, in Romanita’s words, the work of philanthropy is motivated by “a deep belief in the common good, a deep belief in common purpose, and a deep belief in sheer humanity.”
