One of the great joys of working at the Murdock Trust is the unparalleled team of individuals we get to work alongside. Every department, whether Grants or Enrichment or Investment, is made up of outstanding workers who embody Jack Murdock’s values in the way they do their work and in the work they do, whether that is public-facing or behind-the-scenes. Few have embodied the commitment to excellence and hospitality in their work more than Tammy Bjorkman. It is a bittersweet moment for all of us at the Trust as Tammy will retire from her role as Investment Administrator this month.
For nine years, Tammy served the Investment and Finance teams and the Trust’s investment managers with hospitality and positivity. The Trust strives to be the “best client partner possible” for our investment managers and service providers, and Tammy was often the first voice or email to communicate this commitment and deliver on that promise of gold standard partnership day-in and day-out as our work progressed. She managed calendars, coordinated travel arrangements, prepared legal documents, helped plan Trust events, and so much more with a commitment to excellence that would have made Jack proud.
“It’s hard to imagine the Investment team without Tammy,” says Elmer Huh, chief investment officer at the Trust. “She has served our investment managers with true hospitality and care, while keeping our team organized and connected in a way that makes our work effective. She is going to be greatly missed on our team.”
“Throughout her nine years at the Murdock Trust, Tammy has served our Investment and Finance teams with incredible dedication and service,” says Steve Moore, executive director of the Murdock Trust. “But she’s much more than just an administrative expert. She never failed to make staff gatherings more fun by making us laugh, and she was an inspiration to us all in how she could welcome people in and make them feel at home.”
In addition to Tammy’s exceptional service at the Trust, she is an active community member and advocate for adults with developmental disabilities. She volunteers for the local chapter of the Audubon Society and has shared her passion for birdwatching with more than a few Trust team members. As she enters retirement, we are excited to hear where her next adventure or service will take her!
Tammy, as much as you will be deeply missed around the Trust office, we could not be more excited for this next season for you. We know you will approach it with a spirit of care and excellence, as you did in all your work at the Trust.
