“Much has been written and said about the divisiveness in our communities these days — about how social media has helped fuel echo chambers of opinion, inspire distancing or disconnection from those we once considered friends and greatly increase the notion of a zero-sum “us versus them” battle line between ‘right’ and ‘wrong’ opinions.
While this toxic discourse has created a great number of emotional and personal conflicts, it also seeks to tear out one of the fundamental pillars of a strong society: the ability to disagree constructively. This is an important skill — especially for leaders of nonprofits and businesses.”
