“Give thanks for a little and you will find a lot.”
– Hausa Proverb
One of the great joys of this time of year is our ability to pause for a moment and truly reflect on the blessings in our lives. While we all try to practice gratitude day in and day out, sometimes the foundational elements that make our lives vibrant can fade into the background in between meetings and children’s dance classes and grocery shopping and cleaning the garage.
Every year, we like to ask our staff for some of the things that they are thankful for in this season of gratitude. After the unique challenges of the last two years, we find ourselves reflecting back largely on the most elemental areas of our lives and work.
- The love and comfort of family.
- Neighbors and community.
- Our colleagues at the Trust and the individuals and families who serve our diverse region.
- Health, vaccines, and those who have kept us safe in these trying times.
- Moments that return to “normalcy,” such as the ability to travel safely or meet in person.
- Children and grandchildren.
- Delicious meals and new recipes.
- Art and those who brighten our lives with their gifts.
These are just a sampling of all we have to be grateful for.
But most of all, we are grateful to all those who give their time and resources to serve the diverse needs of the Pacific Northwest and support the common good.
Happy Thanksgiving!
