“Every day has 1,440 minutes. That means we have 1,440 opportunities to make a positive impact.”
-Les Brown
The first weeks of the New Year bring a special type of energy. Psychologically, we see the turning of the calendar as an opportunity for a fresh start. Pair this with an infusion of enthusiasm fueled by the opportunity to recharge over the holidays, and it is common to see organizations burst out of the gate with vigor the first weeks of January.
It is the same for us at the Murdock Trust. As we write this, our team is working tirelessly to prepare for our next session of grant reviews as well as several enrichment programs for educators and nonprofit leaders around the Pacific Northwest. However, our team has an extra bit of motivation that fuels our fire.
We believe the “Promise of the Nonprofit Sector” is the ability to bring thoughtful solutions together with passionate drive to improve the quality of life for our community and for those in need. Our small role is to help ensure these groups have the resources, capacity and knowledge to excel by investing in transformational ideas and helping build relationships for the common good. As each year comes to a close, we take a moment to reflect on the thoughtful and impactful work that our grantees are driving in communities across our region.
It is awe-inspiring to see the exponential benefits that occur when so many organizations identify a challenge and bring the full force of their own passion to create a solution. As 2017 wrapped up, we had the opportunity to visit with a handful of the more than 300 organizations who received grants from the Murdock Trust over the previous 12 months. As you will see in our 2017 annual video above, the depth and breadth of their work is unbelievable, their passion is real and their impact is immeasurable.
With 2018 now in full swing, we cannot wait to see what this year has in store for the organizations with which we will partner to serve individuals, families and communities across the Pacific Northwest to strengthen the region’s educational, social, spiritual and cultural base in creative and sustainable ways.
